I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of
Foreign Office despatch No. 18 of the 15th of April
last.
In reply I have to say that I am forwarding
herewith enclosed a report containing all the informa-
tion I have been able to gather regarding the disposal
of the antimony and hides imported into San Francisco
from China through the United States of America by
German firms.
As the United States customs do not now publish
the manifests of either incoming or outgoing ships,
it is somewhat difficult to obtain information regarding
cargoes.
Moreover, such information can only be obtained
a day or two after a vessel has arrived or departed,
and is always somewhat incomplete. I venture to suggest
His Britannic Majesty's
